Their Story
“We spent 10 years saving and in 2015 had the opportunity to buy the ugly old house on the block. We spend the next 5+ years loving restoring it, pouring our everything into the home. We brought the old mango trees back to life & added other fruit trees. My husband built a pottery/art studio where I held small free classes for the kids in our community. My husband had a metal-woodworking shop. With our house having a metal roof and surrounded by mango trees, we were delusionally optimistic thinking that our house was safe. When we ran for our lives, we left with nothing leaving my grandmother's wedding ring, our savings, every picture and the computers with our photos. Everything we ever worked for was destroyed. We never thought anything like that was even possible. We also found out that we are dreadfully under insured, so all gifts will go directly to rebuilding our home. We are humbled and thankful to be alive, and we will be forever grateful for the help we receive.”
Elisha and Jeremy are the sweetest people. She has collected every piece of their home with her bare hands and hand-me-downs, everything was so thoughtfully put in place. Jeremy also lost all of his musical instruments. They haven’t received many donations and any proceeds are greatly appreciated. They are still looking for a long term home as well.
